C-Guard riding high with Gipsy Moth IV - 22 June 2005
Tony Grimes, formulator and manufacturer of C-Guard Liquid Copper, the resin which offers up to 10-years anti-foul protection, supplied adhesives to restore Sir Francis Chichesters famous yacht Gipsy Moth IV. After his initial involvement in the first project for which he supplied adhesive for cold moulding the hull, restorers of the record-breaking boat asked him to supply the same adhesive to keep the restoration as close to the original blueprint.
As the only Royal Warrant Holder for epoxy resins and with over forty years experience in the industry, supplying not only the boating but also the building and conservation industries, the Gipsy Moth project has brought Tonys career full circle. "Gipsy Moth will see me supplying an authentic older product which Sir Francis reported stood up well to the rigours of the trip. C-Guard Liquid Copper, my latest product has brought me bang-up-to-date, combining everything that I have learnt into an innovative product which will bring to an end the need for annual re-coating which is such a chore for the modern boat owner", said Tony.
